I got this wrong.

Handcraft began as a small experiment to help more people discover independent Danish design and support the people behind it. The intention was sincere, but the approach was wrong.

I created the site because I care deeply about craft and wanted to explore whether more attention could bring more people to Danish design. I should have involved the designers and brands from the beginning. I should have explained the idea, listened, and built any relationship together with them.

I’m a painter myself, and I’ve worked in and around the arts for years. I care deeply about creative work and the people behind it. That does not excuse my mistake. It is part of why I am disappointed that I failed to show the care and respect that creative work deserves.

After the initial experiment, my attention moved elsewhere. More recently, a small number of orders were placed. Every order has been refunded in full. The shop is now closed, all products have been removed, and no new orders can be placed.

Someone recently contacted me and explained how upsetting the site had been. I understand that much more clearly now. If you are reading this, I am genuinely sorry. I got this wrong.

I really do love craft and wanted to help it reach more people. But good intentions do not replace listening, communication, and trust. I should have spoken to people first, and I am sorry that I did not.

I am genuinely sorry to the designers, brands, and customers affected.
